How to Check a Board Result by Roll Number (Step by Step)

5 min read

Your roll number is the only thing most Pakistani boards need. No password, no CNIC, no app. But every board builds its result page differently, and a small mistake — wrong year, wrong part, wrong portal — produces the same message: no record found.

This guide shows how to check board result by roll number in the order you do it, and notes where Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and federal boards differ.

Before you open the website

Keep four things in front of you. First, your board. Your school’s district decides it, not your choice: Lahore serves Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib, while Gujranwala serves six districts. If you are unsure, look it up in our board directory before guessing.

Second, your class and part. Ninth and tenth are SSC Part I and Part II; eleventh and twelfth are HSSC Part I and Part II.

Third, the session: annual or supplementary. A supplementary result will never appear under the annual tab. Fourth, your roll number, copied from the admit card or roll number slip rather than typed from memory.

The steps that work on almost every board

  1. Start at the board’s own domain. Type the address or use the link from our result pages. Search results often put paid lookalike sites above the real board.
  2. Find the results section. It may be called Results, Online Result, Know Your Result or Result Card. On some boards it sits on a separate subdomain, which is still official.
  3. Choose your class or part. Pick 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th exactly as your admit card says.
  4. Choose the year and session. Most portals default to the current annual exam. If you are checking a supplementary or an older result, change both fields.
  5. Enter the roll number. No spaces, dashes or added leading zeros.
  6. Complete the CAPTCHA. It is usually case-sensitive. Request a new image rather than guessing.
  7. Submit and wait. On announcement day the database is under heavy load; a blank page is common.
  8. Save the result. Print to PDF or take a full screenshot, and note the time.

Where the portals differ

Punjab’s nine boards announce their annual results on the same day, but they do not share one checker. Lahore asks for roll number, year, class and CAPTCHA. Bahawalpur runs a separate page for each class. DG Khan splits SSC and HSSC onto two pages.

Faisalabad sends regular and private candidates to different result-card systems. A link that works for your cousin in Lahore may be useless in Faisalabad.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa boards run their own lookups: Peshawar on a cloud subdomain, Mardan on a dedicated result subdomain, Abbottabad with dropdowns for year, class, session and roll number. Sindh is more mixed: Karachi’s BSEK and BIEK have online lookups, while Hyderabad and Sukkur publish PDF gazettes. FBISE runs a central portal with separate links for technical streams.

If the page says no record found

Check the obvious causes in this order. The result may not be announced yet; boards often declare a date but upload classes in stages. Your year or session may be wrong. You may be on the 9th page with a 10th roll number.

Private candidates sometimes need a different portal. And the roll number may simply be mistyped.

If none of those is the problem, wait for an off-peak hour and try again. If the result still does not appear a day after the announcement, call the board helpline or visit with your admit card. Do not pay a third-party site to reveal a result the board has not published.

After the result opens

The online screen is provisional. The printed DMC or detailed marks certificate issued by the board is the document colleges will ask for. Check every subject row: theory, practical where applicable, total and grade. Add the totals yourself and compare them with the grand total on screen.

If a row shows a dash or a short code instead of marks, do not guess. Codes differ between boards. Ask the board office. If a mark looks wrong, note the rechecking window; rules, fees and deadlines are set by each board and announced with the result.

Keep the PDF, the roll number and the date. Admission season will ask for all three.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my CNIC to check a result?

Most board portals ask only for roll number, class, year and session. Some private-candidate systems ask for more registration details. If a site demands your CNIC, an OTP or a payment before showing a result, leave it.

Can I check the result without my roll number?

Not on an official board portal. If you have lost it, ask your school’s exam cell or the board office; our board directory lists the office for your district.

Why does my result show on one website but not the official one?

The other site is probably showing an old cached page, a gazette extract or a different session. The board’s portal is the only source that matters.

Is the online result enough for college admission?

Usually not. Colleges ask for the board-issued DMC or marks sheet. The printout helps you fill forms, but it is not a substitute for the signed document.

Can I check a result from a previous year?

Many boards keep an archive going back several years, though the range differs. Choose the correct year and session. If the archive is missing, the board office can issue a duplicate DMC.

What if the CAPTCHA keeps failing?

Request a new image, check that Caps Lock is off, and avoid reloading the whole page. Try a desktop browser if the phone keeps failing.

Once you have your result, the next useful pages are the date sheets for the next sitting and the class-wise result pages for another year. The university results section covers admission, and the entry test pages cover those separate results.
