Editorial Policy
This page sets out how ResultSpot content is sourced, checked, updated and corrected. It exists so that readers — and anyone assessing whether to rely on this site — can see the standard we hold ourselves to rather than having to take it on trust.
What we publish
We publish five kinds of page:
- Board result pages — one per board and class, with the official portal, the announcement status, the SMS route where the board supports one, and the steps for checking a result.
- Date sheet pages — the examination schedule for a board and class, plus how to read it.
- University and entry test pages — admission routes, portals, and the documents a candidate usually needs.
- Explainers and guides — longer articles on grading, rechecking, supplementary exams, gazettes and result day.
- News items — announcements that affect a large number of students.
Where the information comes from
Every factual claim about a date, a portal or a procedure is expected to trace back to one of the following, in this order of preference:
- the official website of the board, university or testing body;
- an official notification, press release or public notice issued by that body;
- a direct confirmation from that body’s office;
- a reputable news organisation reporting the official announcement, where the primary source is unreachable.
We do not treat other result-aggregator websites as a source. If a date appears only on sites like ours, that is a reason to doubt it, not to repeat it.
Verification standard
Result pages carry a checked date when a person has opened the official portal and confirmed it responds and accepts roll numbers. If we cannot confirm a portal — because the board has not opened it, or the site is down — the page does not carry a checked date, and it does not carry an announcement date either. It says the result is not yet announced.
The same rule applies to university pages. Where an institution has no public online result route, the page says so instead of describing a check process that does not exist. We would rather publish a shorter honest page than a longer invented one.
Freshness
Time-sensitive pages are reviewed on a cycle tied to the exam calendar rather than to a fixed schedule:
- Result pages are reviewed as the board approaches its announcement window, and again on announcement day.
- Date sheet pages are reviewed when a board publishes or revises its schedule.
- University and entry test pages are reviewed at the start of each admission cycle.
- Explainers are reviewed annually, and whenever a board changes its process.
Each page shows when it was last reviewed. A page that has not been reviewed for a full cycle is treated as due for review, not as permanently correct.
How pages are produced
We are open about this because it affects how you should read the site. The structured board and date sheet pages are produced from a maintained data set of boards, classes, official portal addresses and status values, then assembled into a page. A person reviews the output and the editor is accountable for what it says.
The guides and explainers are written individually. Automation, where we use it, is used to assemble and check structure — not to invent facts. No date, portal address or SMS code on this site is generated; each one comes from the source list above or it is not published.
Authorship and responsibility
Pages are published under the ResultSpot editorial desk byline. The desk is responsible for every page, including the assembled ones. We do not publish under invented author names, and we do not attribute content to people who did not write or review it.
If you need to know who is accountable for a specific claim, ask, and we will tell you which desk member is responsible for that page.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we correct it. The process:
- You send the page address and what you believe is correct to [email protected], or through the contact form.
- We check the claim against the official source. This is usually same-day during result season.
- If the claim is right, we correct the page and update its reviewed date. If the change is substantive — a wrong date, a wrong portal — we note the correction on the page.
- If the claim is wrong, we reply and explain what the official source says.
We do not remove accurate pages because someone would prefer them gone. We do remove or correct anything that is inaccurate, and we will remove personal information that should not have been published.
Removal requests
If you believe a page contains information about you that should not be public, write to us with the URL and the specific passage. We will remove or anonymise personal information that is not necessary for the page to be accurate. We will not remove a page simply because it reports an official, public fact.
Independence
Advertising and sponsorship never determine what we publish, the order of results on a page, or whether a result is described as announced. Sponsored content, if we run it, is labelled as such. We do not accept payment for a favourable description of any institution, and we do not sell “guaranteed result” placements.
Comments
Comments are moderated against the rules in our terms of use. We remove spam, abuse, and any comment containing someone else’s personal information. Comments are not fact-checked and do not represent the editorial position of the site.
